Covid-19 Updates

POSTt: COVID-19 Update – 26 March 2020

REMEMBER some members of Chambers offer their services as experiences mediatorsFamily Dispute Resolution Practitioners and as Arbitrators. We are able to conduct such services over the phone, or by using Skype or Zoom. If your court case has been adjourned, it might be prudent to consider such services as soon as possible.

Do also consider our Independent dispute assessment service. Many of our barristers have significant specialist experience in particular areas of the law, acquired over many years.   This enables them to consider the details of a dispute, and to provide an independent opinion on the likely outcome, or range of outcomes, if the matter were to proceed through the court process to a judgment or decision.   An opinion of this kind may be requested jointly and at any time, to give the parties a clear picture of the likely end result of the court process.   The opinion is not binding, but may help the parties involved to reach a compromise before they incur significant costs in taking the dispute through the court process. Independent dispute assessment is not suitable for all disputes, particularly those where there is a high level of conflict between the parties.

If you would like to avail yourselves of these services, I am happy to discuss your options with you and allocate a suitable barrister for you: you can call me on the main Chambers number (07) 3181 5578 or on 0423 778567.

COVID-19 Update – 25 March 2020

Because of the recent pandemic BrisbaneChambers has needed to consider changing the way some of the services its members offer.

Please be assured that BrisbaneChambers remains very much open for business, but clearly there are now some unavoidable restrictions on how we can deliver our service:

For now, we are still able to receive briefs at our address in the Santos Building, but under the current circumstances it is best to conform with your barrister as to whether that address remains the best form of delivery. Of course, many of us prefer electronic briefs in any event, but you are best advised to conform this with your barrister;

In-person conferences are no longer sensible, and so phone/ Skype/ Zoom options are available – please speak to your barrister;

If you have any comments / queries or concerns please speak to your barrister, or you can call me on the main Chambers number (07) 3181 5578 or on 0423 778567;

We appreciate your understanding at this challenging time;

We also wish you a safe future, and remember: wash those hands!
